Recruiting internationally educated Health Professionals
Provincial registration is mandatory for most Health Professions. The choice of location for employment will determine which provincial regulatory body should be contacted for registration.  Employers have two immigration options when hiring internationally educated registered health professionals: through the Temporary Work Permit Program or the Provincial Nominee Program.

Temporary Work Permit
1. This option ties the candidate’s employment to a specific facility.
2. Employers must issue a full-time job offer to the candidate.
3. Employers must submit an application seeking authorization from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) to hire an internationally educated worker.
4. HRSDC will provide the employer with a “system number” upon approval of the application.
5. The employer must forward the “system number” to the candidate so he/she can proceed with his/her temporary work permit application with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
6. Provincial Nominee Program: This option is available to assist qualified internationally educated health professionals, to obtain permanent resident status in an expedited manner.
7. This program is employer-driven.
8. The candidate must be registered by the appropriate regulatory body.
9. Employers must issue a full-time job offer to the candidate.
10. Employer and employee must complete the Provincial Nominee Program applications and forward them to Marmicmon.
11. The employee receives a nomination letter from the provincial nominee so they can proceed with their permanent resident application with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
